A Spectrally Accurate Boundary IntegralMethod for InterfacialVelocities in Two-Dimensional Stokes Flow

چکیده
We present a new numerical method for solving two-dimensional Stokes flow with deformable interfaces such as dynamics of suspended drops or bubbles. The method is based on a boundary integral formulation for the interfacial velocity and is spectrally accurate in space. We analyze the singular behavior of the integrals (single-layer and double-layer integrals) appearing in the equations. The interfaces are formulated in the tangent angle and arc-length coordinates and, to reduce the stiffness of the evolution equation, the marker points are evenly distributed in arc-length by choosing a proper tangential velocity along the interfaces. Examples of Stokes flow with bubbles are provided to demonstrate the accuracy and effectiveness of the numerical method. AMS subject classifications: 45F15, 65R20, 76T10

A comparative study between two numerical solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations
The present study aimed to investigate two numerical solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations. For this purpose, the mentioned flow equations were written in two different formulations, namely (i) velocity-pressure and (ii) vorticity-stream function formulations. Solution algorithms and boundary conditions were presented for both formulations and the efficiency of each formulation was investiga...

متن کاملStable and Spectrally Accurate Schemes for the Navier-Stokes Equations
In this paper, we present an accurate, efficient and stable numerical method for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations (NSEs). The method is based on (1) an equivalent pressure Poisson equation formulation of the NSE with proper pressure boundary conditions, which facilitates the design of high-order and stable numerical methods, and (2) the Krylov deferred correction (KDC) accelerated met...
متن کاملSpectral Accuracy in Fast Ewald Methods and Topics in Fluid Interface Simulation
This work contains two separate but related parts: one on spectrally accurate and fast Ewald methods for electrostatics and viscous flow, and one on microand complex fluid interface problems. In Part I we are concerned with fast and spectrally accurate methods to compute sums of slowly decaying potentials over periodic lattices. We consider two PDEs: Laplace (electrostatics, the Coulomb potenti...
